Environmental Policy

Introduction and scope

Sustainable development and good governance form the foundation of our operations. The purpose of the Environmental Policy is to ensure that environmental practices support the Group’s strategic success, competitiveness and sustainable development.

The Environmental Policy establishes common standards that guide our operations within the Group and in cooperation with partners and suppliers. In our operations, we comply with international laws and regulations as well as the laws and regulations in force in each country of operation at any given time, and we take into account key international agreements such as the Paris Agreement.

Scope:
  • This policy covers all of Bravedo’s own operations, including all subsidiaries and business areas.

  • It also applies to our most significant business partners and suppliers, from whom we require commitment to the principles of this policy and to the Group’s Supplier Code of Conduct in procurements managed by the Group procurement team.

  • In addition, the policy extends to customer work and assignments to the extent that they involve material environmental impacts.

All Bravedo subsidiaries and employees commit to complying with this Environmental Policy. Companies may also draw up their own environmental policy, but it must be aligned with the Group policy and meet at least the minimum requirements set out herein.

Accessibility of the Environmental Policy

Bravedo’s Environmental Policy is available in Finnish and English on the Group’s website. The policy is reviewed and, if necessary, updated annually to reflect best practices and changing legislative requirements.

Stakeholder consultation and participation

In developing the Environmental Policy, Bravedo Oy’s Sustainability Committee was consulted; it includes representatives from different companies and from the personnel. In addition, Bravedo has carried out a double materiality assessment, in which the most important stakeholders—personnel, customers and suppliers—were consulted. The policy takes into account the most significant environmental aspects identified in connection with the double materiality assessment.

Implementation and oversight

Bravedo Oy’s Executive Management Team has approved these principles and oversees compliance with them at Group level. Each subsidiary is responsible for appointing a person in charge who ensures the implementation of the principles and, where necessary, reports to its Board.

PRINCIPLES
Awareness

We increase personnel awareness of environmental responsibility and promote training and practical tools for its implementation. If our operations cause adverse environmental impacts, we act promptly to minimise the impacts and remedy and compensate for the impacts as needed. Bravedo performs annual emissions calculations covering its own operations (Scopes 1 and 2) as well as significant value-chain-related impacts through suppliers and other Scope 3 emissions categories. Based on this information, it is possible to set targets for continuous improvement.

Responsibility for the climate

All Bravedo companies are committed to monitoring their carbon footprint and emissions intensity and to minimising their most significant adverse climate impacts. We are committed to developing our operations in an environmentally responsible manner and to providing our customers with solutions that support sustainable development. Our aim is to focus on reducing the most significant climate impacts, which also supports the preservation of biodiversity.

We require companies to conduct comprehensive emissions calculations (Scopes 1, 2 and 3) and to report the results annually to Group management, on the basis of which emissions reduction targets can be set. We promote climate action, among other things, by focusing on improving energy efficiency, introducing renewable energy sources and increasing resource efficiency in operations. The aim is to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and increase the share of renewable energy in energy consumption. Our aim is to minimise Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030.

Sustainable procurement and use

Bravedo focuses on the sustainable sourcing and recycling of renewable natural resources. Attention is paid to reducing the use of virgin resources and promoting the circular economy.
